Govind Guru Tribal University, Banswara, formerly known as Rajiv Gandhi Tribal University, Udaipur, was established in 2012 and renamed in 2016, and is headquartered in Banswara.

It has jurisdiction over the Banswara, Dungarpur, and Pratapgarh districts of Rajasthan. This state university was established in 2012 by an Act and the (Change of Name and Headquarters, and Amendment) Act, 2016.

At the time of its establishment, the headquarters were in Udaipur. Which is now located at Village Badawi Mahidem Road, Banswara, after relocation.

The university aims to provide higher education, innovation, research, and development. It aims to sharpen professional skills, create new knowledge, and develop appropriate attitudes among the promising young generation to rebuild the society based on the highly cherished ideals of functional democracy.
