Secretary, University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof. Rajneesh Jain has written a letter to all the states and universities in this regard. It is written that under the New Education Policy 2020, students will be taught and trained in the subjects of Communication Skills, Professional Skills, Leadership and Management Skills and Universal Human Values. For this, a draft curriculum based on life skills has been prepared on the basis of the new education policy.

Why was it needed

In fact, in 2017, multinational companies in their report to the government pointed out the shortcomings of the students. It was written that Indian students no longer have human values, social concerns, lack of communication skills, universal resilience as before. Students from IITs to other universities have knowledge with degrees, but they have become very professional.

There is a difference in the merits of Indian students due to which they were in demand in the international market. Along with education, knowledge, it is also necessary to have them for the job. Therefore, the government is urged to focus on these along with the subjects. That is why this draft has been included in the new education policy.
